RAJASTHAN: Contrary to mounting tensions between India and Pakistan, Rajasthan CM decided to convene an urgent all-party meeting at the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in Jaipur. The meeting was held on May 10, 2025, and representation from various political parties highlighted the gravity of the situation and the need for a united response.
With the growing security concerns arising out of increasing hostilities at the border between the two countries, the CM thus took a proactive step. The chief purpose of the meeting was to discuss and frame strategies to safeguard Rajasthan's border regions, especially in view of the threat of military escalation. The finer points of the discussions remain undisclosed, but sources indicated that considerable time was spent deliberating on better coordination between state agencies, protecting critical infrastructure, and ensuring the safety of the people in the affected areas.
The gathering was important since Rajasthan, being a bordering state with Pakistan, is caught in the front line during any cross-border conflict. Gehlot put forth that all strains of politics need to unite to take on current security challenges, stressing above party lines on matters of national security.
The meeting further provided an opportunity to address the complaints of the citizens residing in the border areas and ascertain that measures are in place for their assistance if they would be needed in the event of an emergency. The CM's effort underlined a huge call for unity in the face of national security trials and showcased how the state governments play a decisive role in handling regional security at times of geopolitical turbulence.
